Terms of Service

These terms govern your use of the DNA Labs Nigeria website, our diagnostic services and the reports we issue. Please read them carefully before booking any test.

Last updated: 28 September 2026

1. Acceptance of these terms

By accessing the DNA Labs Nigeria website, submitting an enquiry, booking a test, providing a sample or otherwise using our services, you confirm that you have read, understood and agreed to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree with any part of these terms, please do not use our website or services.

These terms apply together with our Privacy Policy and our Refund & Retesting Policy, which form part of the agreement between you and DNA Labs Nigeria ("we", "us", "our").

2. Services provided

DNA Labs Nigeria is a certified genetic diagnostic laboratory providing molecular and genetic testing services in Nigeria, including relationship and paternity testing, non-invasive prenatal testing, clinical molecular diagnostics and related counseling support. Our services are delivered through physical laboratories and sample collection centres in Abuja, Lagos and Kaduna, and through discreet home collection kits dispatched nationwide.

We may update, suspend or withdraw any test or service where clinically appropriate, where required by regulation, or where laboratory capacity requires it. Published turnaround times are good-faith estimates measured in business days from laboratory receipt of an acceptable sample; they are not guaranteed deadlines, and they may be extended where recollection or repeat analysis is required.

3. Medical disclaimer

Our results are diagnostic support โ€” not a substitute for clinical diagnosis. The reports we issue are laboratory findings intended to support, and be interpreted by, the treating physician or a qualified healthcare professional in the context of your full medical history, examination and other investigations.

  • Nothing on this website or in our reports constitutes medical advice, diagnosis or treatment.
  • Genetic and molecular findings may have implications for family members; appropriate professional counseling is recommended before and after testing.
  • Prenatal and clinical results must be discussed with your obstetrician, physician or specialist before any decision is made.
  • While our reports are prepared to be accepted in Nigerian courts and by foreign embissaries where chain-of-custody procedures were followed, admissibility in any specific proceeding remains a matter for the relevant authority or tribunal.
  • Our educational articles are general information, reviewed by medical professionals, and are not a substitute for consultation with your own doctor.

4. Your obligations

When using our services, you agree to:

  • Provide complete, truthful and accurate information when booking, including full legal names, dates of birth and contact details as required for the test.
  • Provide consent for every person being tested โ€” or, for minors and persons unable to consent, ensure you have lawful authority as parent or legal guardian to authorise the test.
  • Follow sample preparation and collection instructions so that samples remain analytically usable.
  • Refrain from submitting samples obtained without the knowledge or lawful consent of the person tested, or for any fraudulent, deceptive or unlawful purpose.
  • Treat your report, its password and your results as confidential medical information.
  • Use our website lawfully and refrain from any attempt to disrupt, probe or misuse our systems or content.

We reserve the right to refuse or discontinue a service where we reasonably believe these obligations are not being met, where consent is absent or disputed, or where a request conflicts with law or professional ethics.

5. Accurate identification for chain-of-custody testing

For legal and chain-of-custody testing, the evidential value of your result depends entirely on the integrity of identification and custody records. You therefore agree that:

  • Every tested party will present a valid government-issued identity document before sampling, and that the identity details supplied at booking match those documents exactly.
  • Photographs may be taken and retained of each tested party at the point of collection as part of the custody record.
  • Collection will take place at an approved location under witnessed conditions, with custody documentation signed at each transfer.
  • Any change of name, spelling variation or discrepancy must be disclosed in advance โ€” undisclosed discrepancies may invalidate the custody record and the utility of the report.
  • False or misleading identification is a serious misuse of our services and may result in cancellation without refund and, where relevant, referral to the appropriate authorities.

6. Booking, prices & payment

All prices are published in Nigerian Naira (NGN) and are verified on a scheduled cycle; the price confirmed to you at booking is the price that applies to that booking. Unless expressly stated, published prices are all-inclusive of accessioning, analysis and encrypted digital reporting for the test described.

Payment terms, methods and any applicable retesting or refund arrangements are governed by our Refund & Retesting Policy. Where a sample fails acceptance criteria or cellular yield requirements, our first remedy is a no-fault recollection and retest, as described in that policy.

8. Intellectual property

The DNA Labs Nigeria website, including its text, articles, graphics, logos, test descriptions, laboratory documentation and report formats, is our intellectual property or that of our licensors, and is protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may view and print content for personal, non-commercial use.

Your personalised laboratory report is issued for your use and for the use of your treating clinicians and authorised representatives. You may not copy, adapt, resell or commercially exploit our report formats, methodologies, branding or published content without prior written consent.

9. Limitation of liability

We provide our services with reasonable professional skill and care, in line with applicable Nigerian regulation and our published quality standards. To the fullest extent permitted by law:

  • Our liability for any claim arising out of a service is limited to the amount paid for the specific test or service giving rise to the claim.
  • We are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential losses, including losses arising from decisions you take in reliance on results before they have been interpreted by a qualified healthcare professional.
  • We are not liable for delays caused by events beyond our reasonable control, including courier disruption, force majeure, or sample recollection requirements caused by inaccurate information or failure to follow collection instructions.
  • Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including liability for fraud or for death or personal injury caused by proven negligence.

10. Governing law

These terms, and any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with them or the services we provide, are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. The Nigerian courts have exclusive jurisdiction over any such dispute, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer protections applicable in your place of residence.

If any provision of these terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in full force. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of our right to do so later. We may update these terms from time to time; the version published on this page with the most recent "Last updated" date applies to your use of our services.
