Von Willebrand Factor Ristocetin Cofactor Activity vWFRCo Test
Introduction
The Von Willebrand Factor Ristocetin Cofactor Activity vWFRCo Test is a pivotal diagnostic tool used to evaluate the functionality of von Willebrand factor (vWF), a crucial protein involved in blood clotting. This test is particularly important for patients suspected of having von Willebrand disease or other bleeding disorders. By assessing the activity of vWF, healthcare providers can make informed decisions regarding diagnosis and treatment.
What the Test Measures
This test measures the activity of von Willebrand factor in the presence of ristocetin, which is essential for platelet adhesion to the blood vessel wall. Low activity levels may indicate a deficiency or dysfunction of vWF, leading to bleeding complications.
