Pre-Test Instructions

Sample Type and Turnaround Time
The sample type required for the test is 6 mL whole blood in 2 Blue Top (Sodium Citrate) tubes. It is crucial to mix the sample thoroughly by inversion and transport it to the lab within 4 hours. If this is not possible, make Platelet Poor Plasma (PPP) within 1 hour of collection as follows:
- Centrifuge the sample at 3600 rpm for 15 minutes.
- Transfer the supernatant to a clean plastic tube.
- Centrifuge this supernatant again at 3600 rpm for 15 minutes.
- Finally, transfer the supernatant (PPP) to 2 labelled, clean plastic screw-capped vials and freeze immediately. Ship frozen and do not thaw.
The turnaround time for the test is as follows: Samples received by 11 am will have reports available the same day by 6 pm.
