  • If Gadolinium, Iodine, or Barium containing contrast media has been administered, do not collect the specimen for 96 hours.

Sample Type and Collection

  • 2 mL (1.5 mL min.) serum from 1 Red Top (No Additive) tube. Separate serum from cells within 1 hour of collection. Protect from light by wrapping in aluminum foil.
  • 2 mL (1 mL min.) serum from 1 SST.
  • 3 mL (2 mL min.) serum from 1 metal-free White Top (No Additive) tube.
  • 4 mL (2 mL min.) whole blood from 1 metal-free Royal Blue Top (K2EDTA) tube.

Ship samples refrigerated or frozen. Do not freeze whole blood samples. Use powderless gloves during specimen collection and ship at specified temperatures.
