Introduction to the Fish Prenatal Screening Panel
The Fish Prenatal Screening Panel for Chromosomes 13, 18, 21, X, Y is a specialized genetic test that plays a crucial role in prenatal diagnostics. This test is designed to detect chromosomal abnormalities in fetuses, providing expectant parents with essential information about their baby’s health. Early detection of these conditions can lead to better management and planning for the future.
What the Test Measures
This test specifically measures the presence of chromosomal abnormalities associated with conditions such as Down syndrome (Trisomy 21), Edward’s syndrome (Trisomy 18), and Patau syndrome (Trisomy 13), as well as abnormalities in the sex chromosomes (X and Y). By analyzing amniotic fluid, this test provides a clear picture of the chromosomal makeup of the fetus.
