Pre-Test Instructions
Overnight fasting is preferred. A duly filled Coagulation Requisition Form (Form 15) is mandatory. Patients should discontinue Heparin for 1 day and Oral Anticoagulants for 7 days prior to sampling, with prior consent from their treating physician.
Turnaround Time
Samples should be submitted on Wednesdays or Saturdays by 9 AM, with reports available on Fridays or Tuesdays.
Sample Requirements
3 mL (1.5 mL min.) whole blood in a Lavender Top (EDTA) tube, shipped refrigerated. DO NOT FREEZE. Additionally, 3 mL whole blood in a Blue Top (Sodium Citrate) tube, mixed thoroughly by inversion, must be transported to the lab within 4 hours. If this is not possible, make PPP within 1 hour of collection.
