Pre-Test Instructions
Prior to testing, it is recommended that patients discontinue Heparin for 1 day and Oral Anticoagulants for 7 days, as these medications may affect test results. Ensure you have the following forms completed:
- Duly filled Chromosome and FISH Analysis Requisition Form (Form 17)
- Duly filled Coagulation Requisition Form (Form 15)
Overnight fasting is preferred for accurate results.
Sample Type
Samples required for the Autogen Plus Panel Test include:
- 5 mL (3 mL min.) whole blood in 2 Green Top (Sodium Heparin) tubes from both Husband & Wife.
- 3 mL whole blood in 1 Blue Top (Sodium Citrate) tube.
Samples must be transported to the lab within 24 hours and should be refrigerated immediately. Do not freeze. If necessary, make PPP within 1 hour of collection as follows: Centrifuge sample at 3600 rpm for 15 minutes and transfer supernatant to a clean plastic tube. Centrifuge this supernatant again at 3600 rpm for 15 minutes and finally transfer the supernatant (PPP) to 1 labeled, clean plastic screw-capped vial. Freeze immediately and ship frozen. Do not thaw.
