First Trimester Triple Marker Test
Introduction
The First Trimester Triple Marker Test is a vital screening procedure designed for pregnant women between 10 to 13 weeks of gestation. This test measures specific biomarkers in the mother’s blood to assess the risk of certain genetic conditions, including trisomy 13, 18, and 21, as well as the risk of developing pre-eclampsia. Early detection of these conditions can lead to better management and outcomes for both the mother and the baby.
What the Test Measures
This test evaluates three crucial components in the maternal serum:
- Free Beta HCG
- Pregnancy Associated Plasma Protein A (PAPP-A)
- Placental Growth Factor (PlGF)
These markers help in assessing the risk of early and late-onset pre-eclampsia, as well as trisomy conditions.

- Are between 10 and 13 weeks of gestation
