Pre-Test Instructions
For accurate results, please follow these pre-test instructions:
- Overnight fasting is preferred.
- A duly filled Coagulation Requisition Form (Form 15) is mandatory.
- It is recommended to discontinue Heparin for 1 day and Oral Anticoagulants for 7 days prior to sampling, with prior consent from the treating Physician.
Sample Collection
The sample type required for this test includes:
- 4 mL (3 mL min.) serum from 1 SST, shipped refrigerated or frozen.
- 4 mL (3 mL min.) Platelet Poor Plasma (PPP) from 3 Blue Top (Sodium Citrate) tubes.
Samples must be transported to the lab within 4 hours. If this is not possible, PPP should be prepared as follows: centrifuge the sample at 3600 rpm for 15 minutes, transfer the supernatant to a clean plastic tube, centrifuge again at 3600 rpm for 15 minutes, and freeze immediately.
